My Lecture at the British Council in Cairo: Tales from the Silk Road (Aug 4th)

Tonight I give a lecture to SaharaSafaris community about the Silk Road, in an effort to share my travel experience with those interested in the theme:

“The phrase “Silk Road” still conjures up images of romance and mystery; it resonates with names such as Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Tamerlane, al-Khwarizmi and Marco Polo, and it evokes the human spirit of exploration and discovery of a magical bygone age.
Places like Samarkand, Bukhara, or Khotan continue to fascinate with the richness of their history, the authenticity of their traditions, and the artistic splendour of their monuments.” – Luce Boulnois
